Presented by the North America Chinese Culture Promotion Society, the fourth edition of the Carnival will be held on October 5, 2025, at Richmond River Rock Show Theatre. With the theme “Voices from 9,000 Years Ago”, the event brings together diverse cultures to break down racial barriers and celebrate unity. A Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience
For the first time in Vancouver, audiences will witness the 9,000-year-old Jiahu Bone Flute, one of the world’s oldest musical instruments carved from the bones of cranes.
This rare performance will be led by Yu Dongbo, an official cultural heritage inheritor and one of the very few living musicians capable of bringing this ancient voice back to life.
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Yu will join forces with Edgar Muenala, the renowned Vancouver-based pan flute virtuoso, and a local jazz ensemble. Together, they will create a cross-cultural fusion that bridges ancient Chinese wisdom with modern global expression.
